Who We Are
Astrid Tryon, CPDT-KSA, President
When Astrid received her CPDT-KSA (Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge and Skills Assessed) in 2013, she became the first in Colorado Springs to hold this certification. Astrid realized that there are a lot of situations where people want to keep their dogs but need financial help to obtain training. From that seed, “Paw it Forward” was born.
Astrid is a professional premium member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT), a member of the Pet Professional Guild (PPG) as well as supporting member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC). She attends workshops and conferences to further her goal of achieving certification in behavior consulting.
Astrid spends her spare time volunteering for Stable Strides, a Therapeutic Riding Center in Black Forest. Her menagerie consists of Sierra and Cedric, a cat whose feral mother was smart enough to give birth at the puppy mill shelter where she volunteered.
Gail Montgomery, Treasurer
Gail has been involved in animal welfare for many years. She is currently a stay-at-home dog (and cat) mom, oversees several family businesses and manages life on the ranch.
As the treasurer of Paw It Forward, it is her responsibility to oversee the financial health of the organization and ensure that your donations are used wisely. She retired from corporate life as a project manager and financial analyst several years ago and has been volunteering for several non-profit organizations in similar capacities for almost 10 years. She has an MBA in Finance which means nothing to her dogs.
Gail has seen how important it is to be patient with new pets, start the relationship off on a positive note and adjust to each animal’s needs. She is a Pet Owner member of the Pet Professional Guild. Her own crew consists of Auzzi, Claire, Sage and Yoshi, resident feline.
